Dr. Major grew up in Freeport, Grand Bahama, and attended both College of The Bahamas and University of Central Missouri for his undergraduate education. He later attended University of the West Indies School of Veterinary Medicine to receive his doctorate. While there he was exposed to the many facets of veterinary medicine including doing bench research on the risk of Toxoplasma gondii in backyard poultry in Trinidad.
Dr. Major opened Westlake Animal Hospital in 2022 after five (5) years of private practice throughout the Bahama islands. Dr. Major enjoys working with all types of animals but his professional interests include internal medicine, infectious disease and diagnostic imaging. Opening Westlake Animal Hospital allowed him to offer a full range of diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services to all the pets throughout the Bahamas. He enjoys the challenge of diagnosing difficult cases and loves teaching owners how to care for their pets’ behavioral and medical needs.
Dr. Major treats every pet and patient as if they were his own. When he is not dedicating his time to clients and patients he enjoys spending time playing card and board games with family and friends. He also spends time working out in the gym as well as reading. Over the years Dr. Major owned many animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles and fish but currently shares his home with his rescue Frenchie named Odin.
